A Lubuntu 14.04 i386 machine that also runs an LTSP server has locked up

logged in and just running the file manager, and that one thin client
was logged in but not doing anything.

Not even the magic syskeys would get me out gracefully, so I had to do a
hard shutdown in all 3 cases.

The last syslog entry was 15 minutes prior to the lockup, so no clues
there.

Has anyone else with a similar configuration noticed any stability
issues recently?

Hi John,

I would suspect hardware problems.

A worthy thought. Unless I hear from others about such a pattern, that will become my working theory.

Have you update to the latest kernel? The previous one had a "regression" because of a security fix:

Thanks to all for the several replies, and to Andreas for the particulars. However, I find that I have the patched kernel installed and also included in the terminal server image.

So unless there is still an unpatched kernel issue, or an unidentified software problem, I may have to fall back to the idea that it is a hardware issue.
