Have you tried also to change monitor resolution settings by Preferences
- Monitor Settings - then save?

I am having difficulty resetting the resolution of My Sony SDM
-S71R Monitor,the default seems to be 1024x768 on AUTO,I am trying
to change it to 1280x1024.
I have Nvidia Drivers installed for graphics card GEForce9300GS.
I carry out the following SYSTEMS - NVIDIA XSERVER SETTINGS
-CHANGE RESOLUTION TO 1280x1024- Manually- Enter APPLY - QUIT Then
quit again when asked.The resolution changes to 1280 x 1024
FINE..but next time i reboot/close down and restart the Resolution
goes back to what appears to be the DEFAULT?
Can anyone advise me what I am doing wrong?

NB Could this change be made via Terminal?
