Dear Lubuntu friends, After a period of weeks of being slow to open web pages, and slow mouse pointer, panic hit when my laptop (Intel Celeron M Pentium III) wouldn't boot properly and started giving drive error codes, etc... After spending most of Saturday troubleshooting the problem and doing multiple Safe Mode restarts, I came across the *"Ubuntu Tweak"* under System Tools. I hadn't noticed this before, so I am assuming it came with a recent package update. I ran the "Janitor" and it cleaned my harddrive of old/obsolete files and packages, Firefox cache, old kernels, etc... and what do you know? All back to normal and the laptop is quick and light!
On another subject, I have now changed from connecting wirelessly to my router, instead using the ethernet connection 'wired' setup (eth0). The connection is much more stable as a result. A note of thanks to the Lubuntu developers for the Ubuntu Tweak tool. It has truly done wonders for my old laptop. With best regards, Steve Duckworth South Africa --
