I seem to have fixed it now
The BIOS settings for the VGA where the problem (they worked just fine
under 14.04)
There is a setting that dynamicly nmanages the video memory, evebthough
another setting was cobfigured as FIXED VGA memory the option to
dynamicly manage the VGA RAM seemed to be the problem.
So FIXED VGA RAM in the BIOS
and AUTO refresh rate in Lubuntu
works best in my case
I also disabled Serial and LPT to free up some unused resources
