The machines I am using both install / Try Lubuntu with out installing
for Lubuntu 14.04
Xubuntu 16.04 also has no problems. It is only the Lubuntu 16.04.1
LiveCD that will not work out of the Box.

I would encourage you to provide specific information about your video
card when you do this. The best way is to get a terminal open (even a
live CD can do this) and do:
lspci -nnk | grep -A 3 -i vga
If you want to get really fancy, you can install pastebinit and pipe
the above to it and you'll get back a URL you can use to reference
this information.
With that, you can even ask on Freenode IRC at #lubuntu.
