i organized this and trimmed this down to just the necessary bit. i left the
rest of it commented out so if our fearless editor karl wants to put it back
in, he can. however, my feeling is that the installation part of the wiki
(elsewhere) should discuss the various ways to burn an iso and the general ppc
faq (also elsewhere) should discuss the usb booting (they both do). so we can
get rid of that.

however, what i want to be sure of is this: with the currently available isos,
running that yaboot command will get us into an installable desktop? there are
no other problems? i.e. if you used that in testing, would it otherwise pass?
also is the yaboot command necessary to properly boot the installed system?
this needs to be clarified. i'll leave that up to you. one other thing: the
title should describe the problem.

i went ahead and assumed the answers are yes/no/yes/yes and just said the
symptom is no desktop. feel free to correct if needed.

if there are bug reports to link to this, you should.
