i organized this and trimmed this down to just the necessary bit. i left the rest of it commented out so if our fearless editor karl wants to put it back in, he can. however, my feeling is that the installation part of the wiki (elsewhere) should discuss the various ways to burn an iso and the general ppc faq (also elsewhere) should discuss the usb booting (they both do). so we can get rid of that.
