Yes, dates should not be tokenized.  This problem became visible when
DateField's timeToString method started prepending spaces instead of zeros to
the date string.  This has been fixed now, and this tokenizing of Date fields in
Field class has been turned off.
Date fields should now be Strings containing no spaces, so this problem should
not come up.
