I may have originated the thread, (with different email, prob dave @
lumos.com, maybe dave @ tropo.com). Nothing conclusive happened though
one discovery/optimization was that if you're gonna do extensive
pre-processing on the Directory you want to have it in RAM if possible
and avoid the FSDirectory.
