http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23754 [PATCH] IndexWriter var to control in-memory merges [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- AssignedTo|lucene- |[EMAIL PROTECTED] |[EMAIL PROTECTED] | ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-10-13 16:13 ------- NB: I am adding the following just so it gets archived here. This improvement was mentioned in one Doug Cuttin's emails dated: Fri, 9 Nov 2001 15:02:05 -0800 The same email goes on to add: A better approach would be to have users specify the limit in bytes rather than documents, and to flush the RAM-based segments when the RAM directory's size reaches that limit. This would take a bit more work, but still shouldn't be hard. Then you could dedicate, say, 10MB to indexing, regardless of document size.
