I wonder if this is related to Microsoft's purchase of Lookout, which uses Lucene.Net. I also wonder whether the licence allows this...
ASL allows this, given that you put proper notices in the documentation / source code (if you distribute any source code). However, AFAIR the terms of service at SF.net don't allow such removal, and the staff at SF.net should be notified and take some action...
Reaching an amicable conclusion to this would be preferrable, of course, but there is also a procedure to overtake a project at SF.net, it takes ca. 3 weeks to complete, perhaps shorter if you can prove violation of terms of service. But I think it's easier to restore the project under another name, based on the latest published sources...
