I just tried closing the loop on the "e"s in the new

In all of the graphic design I've done for clients, the logos
I've made, etc. I've always found that there are literally as
many opinions on a design as there are people, and it's not
possible to satisfy everyone. What might look good for one
person doesn't for another. This is only natural. I've already
altered the bump on the 'c' so that it's not as prominent as
it is in the Magneto Bold font, so that at smaller sizes the
two aren't easily confused, but I wouldn't recommend doing
something that would make it noticeably different than Magneto,
simply because if people want to use Lucene they may want to be
able to create text materials that match the logo. Right now,
the logo is so close as to be indistinguishable from Magneto
Bold, especially the way the font is commonly bound along its
baseline. Advertising materials in Magneto Bold would be in
harmony with Lucene's logo. This is the kind of compromise that
most clients would prefer, over having a custom font. That can
be done too, but it costs several thousand dollars when done
from a font house.
I don't have the time right now to build up a series of
alternatives in order to allow for some kind of vote. I'm
sorry, but it's kinda take-it-or-leave-it. Unless someone is
willing to start paying me for my time... :-)
