First, thanks for historical post references. However, I'm still not clear as 
to your reason behind goal number two:

"The APIs are consistent between C# and Java Lucene.  This is why I use 
"GetXYZ()" instead of C# prosperities.".

While I understand the maintenance of the APIs from your perspective may be 
easier by keeping the APIs consistent between the Java and .NET 
implementations, current .NET API design is more of a hindrance for .NET 
developers. My hope is to increase adoption within the .NET community by taking 
advantage of the language constructs such as Generics and indexes, which as I 
understand are now available for Java.
