Hi Nicholas,
I think you didn't see my reply to your mail. There is no failing test under
TestAddIndexesNoOptimize.
See SupportClass.ThreadClass patch, which handles this deadlock case.

PS: Hint for bug hunting: There is no bug in the logic of locks or mutually
exclusions in Lucene(AFAIK). Majority of bugs stems from the port issues.
