Placing the assembly in the bin folder should be enough to make Lucene visible from the ASP.NET Web Site.
Have you included references to the appropriate namespaces in your code, i.e. using Lucene.Net.Index; using Lucene.Net.Analysis; using Lucene.Net.Analysis.Standard; using Lucene.Net.Documents; using Lucene.Net.QueryParsers; using Lucene.Net.Search; using Lucene.Net.Store; Also make sure both the ASP.NET website and the Lucene.Net assembly use the same framework version.
