Most people here would generally recommend that you read *Lucene in
Action*as background material to get you started. After that, I'm sure
people here
would be able to help you with more specific questions. Be aware that LIA is
written based on the parent Java project but everything you read is directly
applicable to Lucene.Net since it's an API-level port.

You can purchase the first edition in from any local or online bookstore or
you can get "early access" to the second edition at
http://www.manning.com/hatcher3/
