disableLuceneLocks system property

why is disableLuceneLocks not in the list at 
http://jakarta.apache.org/lucene/docs/systemproperties.html ?

is it not advisable to use anymore? is it still valid?
will it be supported in version 1.4?
how is the usage? java ... -DdisableLuceneLocks ... or java ... 
-DdisableLuceneLocks=true
