Dubai Drydock Accident Kills at
least 20
At least 20 people were killed and 150 injured after a floodgate collapsed at Dubai
Drydock. According to reports, two panels on a gate collapsed as they were being worked on. The collapse caused a flood combined with large boulders used to anchor the ships, are believed to be the cause a number of deaths.

South Korean shipbuilders plan to make the most of their strength in liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and offshore engineering projects to steer through what they expect to be another tough year.

Spanish shipyards ordered to repay illegal subsidies
The EU Court of Justice has ordered Spanish shipyards to repay illegal subsidies.
The court ruled that GBP68 million in aid Spain gave to ailing state-owned shipyards in 1998 was unjustified and must be repaid with interest.
The court ruling came at a difficult time for European shipbuilding, a sector suffering from many uncompetitive yards and stiff competition, especially from South Korea.
