All you need to do is
1. Copy kannel's log and config files
/etc/kannel
/var/log/kannel
I think. See /etc/kannel/smskannel.conf and confirm
that the log files all exist
2. Add the inittab entry that makes the gateway
(kannel boxes) be started at boot up.
I think after this, all should be fine. I haven't
tested email2SMS.
