story. Just where are your 'backups' anyway if I may ask? If indeed those mail files 
were 'temporarlily lost' you must have probably zeroed them out by now...

Backups, backups, always keep backups... I can't stress it louder enough. Basic 
methods: Quick-Restore, dump, tar, cpio etc...
