No real reason. I prefer stuff like C, C#, Java, Perl, Python and ML. For some reason PHP gets in my way when thinking to a solution. It has matured now and has a *lot* of built in libraries. But it feels like a hack still. Perl is worse in that respect but at least it makes up for it in power.
I had to retrofit Squirrelmail with a new UI and the experience burned me horribly. Have same problem with JSP as well. Mixing in code with HTML is part of the PHP culture.
