Fujitsu and IBM Japan are among the tech companies that have been awarded a $1.6 million contract to develop a Linux-based payroll system for the Japanese government, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The United Nations Development Programme today said that 11 workers from various Afghan ministries have been trained in a 10-day certification course to use the Linux operating system.
