Kernel 2.6 hides this thorny layer from the user and provides a lucid interface that looks and feels like normal IDE. Just insert a CDR/CDRW disc into a capable drive (/dev/hdc) , mount it at some point in your file system and copy/delete files as if it were just another hard disc drive. It sure looks like we shall soon be saying bye to cdrecord (alphonse is saddened) All in all, cdrecord and mkisofs are two interesting utilities that I found almost indispensable in 2.4 $ uname -rs Linux 2.6.0-test5 -- Alphonse Ogulla Nairobi, Kenya ----------------------------------------- University of Nairobi Mail Services "You can't afford to stay offline" http://mail.uonbi.ac.ke/ --------------------------------------------- This service is hosted on the Infocom network http://www.infocom.co.ug
