With growing interest among larger accounts for Linux on the desktop, IBM, Sun, HP and Dell are preparing to offer a range of products and services next year. IDC predicts that in early 2004, Linux will take the No. 2 spot in the desktop arena, behind Windows. Next year just may be the year that desktop Linux emerges as a viable alternative to Windows.
