Wire,
I am one of those that read u long ago and am glad we have crusaders like you that are in business and have seen the challenges we face in advancing use of ICT.
Experience from trying to take ICT into the non english(read so called illiterate!!) populace is that local language is one critical if not under emphasized weak link in bridging the e-divide , whereby not necessarily only the wretched of the wretched of this earth can benefit if it is introduced in their local lingua, but also the well to do but English illiterate can not only benefit but also pay for it and provide an alternative market for our (once again local) IT industry.
If I may go on, its a multiplier effect..... how much time do we have ?
warmest regards

Brother, lets take Uganda as a case study, Bukedde News Paper according to
the Audit Bureau of Circulations has as a daily buy of 14,700 news papers.
Now if you factor in the 1 newspaper being read by 5 people, that takes
its readership up to about 73,000 people. Among these are the Kikuubo
business men who can afford cars of USD 100.000 casually how about
spending USD 400 on a computer to improve on his business operations? To
make matters even better, arm him with software in the lingua he is
literate at. Lets realise guys that it is time we took technology to the
masses if we are to ever make sense of our professions 15 years down the
road.
Are u with me?
