Well after that, you can then simply convert the new mboxes to Maildir/ again with one of the many tools available for doing it :-) Quite roundabout but it should work. To get back to the focus of the whole thing. I think for this setup postfix with a mysql backend would be the easiest way to go. The howtos are really detailed and friendly with step by step instructions. Exim can be intimidating the first time you get to using it especially with a database backend unless you're a code writer and understand regular expressions and the like. There is a howto at http://kirb.insanegenius.net/postfix.html that is quite good. Squirrelmail which comes with SuSE nowadays will make a good webmail system once you have apache with php installed. it has been a long time since I looked at Mdaemon and I can barely remember the address book format however you probably can use LDAP for the address books. it is pretty standard and you may find that is what MDaemon uses.
