Hello FOSS enthusiasts in Africa,
I am Gideon Hayford Chonia, of FOSSFA and FOSSREC.
During the WSIS PrepCom in Accra, there was a meeting with FOSS actors present at the WSIS conference to consolidate the FOSS agenda in Africa
It was then agreed on to take stock of Open Source actors in Africa, and also to give African Open Source Developers a stage to showcase their finished projects and products as well as on-going projects.
This we plan to do in a Meeting scheduled in Dakar, April 2005, which will focus on identifying opportunities and solutions so as to meet the needs of public sector, business and civil society organizations in Africa
I am being asked to coord inate developers and projects who will love to
showcase their work during this meeting.
Projects should fall in these sectors: e-Government, Health, Education
I will be more than grateful if you guys will help me identify current FOSS players in Africa, Developers and applications to be invited to showcase during the meeting.
Kindly SPREAD this information as wide as possible to all FOSS enthusiast in Africa for input, and thus help develop a viable FOSS support structure in Africa
