Which actually reminds me, you don't need to be running Windows to use
EasyRecovery... incidentally, the package I got it in boots Caldera Linux and
launches it in some X mode that is quite Windows-like. It's quite extensive
really, covering:

* Disk Diagnostics:
        - drive tests
        - size manager
        - partition tests
        - S.M.A.R.T test
        - jumper viewer
        - data advisor

* Data Recovery:
        - advanced/customized data recovery
        - format recovery (the one I used)
        - resume recovery (from saved sessions)
        - deleted recovery (need I say more)
        - raw recovery (recover from a drive with no file system)
        - emergency diskette (self-boot)

* File Repair:
        - repairs all corrupted MS Office files
        - repairs broken Zip files

* E-mail repair:
        - repairs all corrupted MS LookOut files (doubt anyone here needs that)

Now this, I like, if the disk isn't very badly damaged and it can work. Could
have saved me two weeks and some cash if I knew sooner :).
