Dear all,

Emmanuel Mulo and Prof Victor van Reijswoud have finished a paper that describes the potential of open source software for Africa and validates this against the background of the migration of Uganda Martyrs University from proprietary software to Open Source Software.

The paper has been presented last week at a preparation conference for the World Summit on Information Societies in Finland as one of the leading examples in migration to open Source in Africa. The reaction to the work presented was extremely positive and the conference praised the university for the being the first university on the continent that has the courage to implement OSS on a large scale. Uganda Martyrs University is considered an example for other universities and organizations.

The paper is available if you are interested. Send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Best regards,

Victor
