Top marks to the London Times for the IT scoop of the century... well, not quite.
The edition of Friday, 22 April, the paper's T2 pull-out, centre spread. Here, in the 'Sounds' section, we find a two-page piece in which old fogey, 71, is taught how to love classical music downloads by precocious brat, 12.
The article runs a large piccy of said pair, in which we see both peering into a large black LCD screen perched above a similarly-hued system unit and likewise-coloured keyboard. Given the colour scheme - not to mention the floppy disk eject button clearly visible - this is a PC of the IBM variety. Just to confirm it, there's a large 'I', 'B' and 'M' on the monitor.
But what's this on the screen? Apple's iTunes, of course. But what's it running under? Why, Mac OS X, no less, with the menu bar and Dock clearly visible, as you can just see in the online version, here.
So we have what, at first glance, appears to be Mac OS X running on an IBM PC. Alas, no. What some crafty so-and-so has clearly done is connect the display to a nearby Mac, allowing the smarter aesthetics of the Apple operating system to appear to be running on the x86 box in place of the more prosaic Windows XP look and feel.
To compound the confusion, the machine isn't even the one used to do the downloading discussed in the article, which is clearly referred to as a Dell.
