BTW the name itself stands for New Debian User' Group Uganda; so the idea is to have a modified Debian kernel based on the Ugandan/East African environment. Its mainly for end users and not techies. It has to have custom packages for Ugandan school needs, NGOs/CBOs and small businesses. It is a kernel with a knoppix like ease of use and hardware friendliness that does not give headache to most ordinary low-tech user.
why re-invent the wheel? Ubuntu was made to fit the above description IMO .
