I a problem which I have still failed to solve, Am running freeBSD 5.4 and the OS is fine, after booting it starts generating the error
ad0: FAILURE - READ_DMA status=51<READY,DSC,ERROR> error=84<ICRC,UNCORRECTABLE> LBA=1
ad0: FAILURE - READ_DMA status=51<READY,DSC,ERROR> error=40<ICRC,UNCORRECTABLE> LBA=1
I checked the BIOS settings and DMA is auto enabled. I have tried fsck thinking that the OS may return something but still failed to get it up.
fsck -yp returns at the end.
THE FOLLOWING FILE SYSTEM HAD AN UN EXPECTED INCONSISTENCY
ufs: /dev/ad0s1g (/dir)
To that, the configured (NIC) interface doesn't reply to its ip address at all but the loop back replys fine i changed the network card thinking it's faulty but still in vain.
do you think these are hardware problems or something else to do with the OS its self.
Is recompiling the kernel an option here?
Regards and thanks
