Dear Stakeholder,
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is organising a half-day
workshop on Guidelines for licensing services under the *New
Telecommunications Policy Policy Guidelines*.
As you may recall, the Minister for Works, Hon. John Nasasira, issued a
ministerial declaration on the new policy on May 11, 2006. Consequently,
UCC would like to enlighted stakeholders and the general public on the
licensing categories and procedures for application for:
-*Public Service Provision*
*-Capacity Resale Infrastructure Provision*
*-Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP)*
Other issues for discussion include separate authorisations required for
establishment and use of:
*-International Data Gateway (IDG) facilities*
*-Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) facilities*
*-Scarce resources, such as spectrum and numbers*
The working documents (Guidelines and Licensing) and other documents are
available on the UCC website: www.ucc.co.ug (especially starting on
Monday, June 26, 2006). They can also be obtained from the UCC reception
at 12th Floor Communications House, Kampala during working hours.
As a stakeholder, therefore, this is to invite you to attend the event
that will take place at the *Grand Imperial Hotel* on *Friday, July 7,
2006* starting at *8:30am*.
