Kurup and i established yesterday that we cannot both reach each others name servers...unless i add a forwarder in my named.conf, i get nothing for infocom.co.ug and anything they host on their name servers.
a) Do One2Net use DNS to verify spam potential of sites, e.g.,
DNSBL's, reverse DNS, e.t.c.?
Yes Mark, i do use DNS to verify spam potentials. a test of my mail server, fake smtp transaction fails at the poin where it has to get the mx records for infocom....that is one of the things we used to resolve that it was a DNS problem.
b) If Infocom and One2Net require forwarders to query each
others' name servers, perhaps there's something hampering
successful connectivity between both ISP's name servers, e.g.,
firewall, no route, router ACL's, e.t.c.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the only way to get to infocoms records is to add a forwarder in my conf files or add that name servers IP address in my resolv.conf.
infocom are temporarily unvailable from the IX, but i dont think that should be a problem....if i do not get them at the IX, then ill simply take the long route to get to them and that i do
there are no firewall restrictions to port 53. to the best of my knowledge, i do not have any restrictions on my name servers as well.
