Well, as some people say, There are no stupid questions, only stupid anwsers.
My hosting provider offered me the choice of adding a PRT record "if you are 
running your own mailserver". As my hosting provider does not provider IP 
services, i assumed they offered this service for a reason.

Maybe assumption is not a good enough reason to mess with your DNS entries.
