Mark, I tend to disagree with U on an African credit card being refused on US based or any web site. Only thing is that it's a different process and requires to either make a call to them and or send a copy of your credit card to them. Because Visa and Master are international standards they have to comply. We all know why this has gotten it to this procedure. I've experienced this in Uganda with my Dutch Master card and my Stanbic (ug) Visa. Both had the same procedure.
1. Fill in the web form 2. Send an email that you have paid over the web and ask them if they need any more details knowing you're in Africa. 3. Follow their steps they mailed back. (Fax a copy of credit card front and back or send Bitmap) 4. They will let u know if accepted. 5. Next time u buy with them they make no fuss. p.s. It does depend a bit if they want you to make the sale as it requires more work on their side that they actually tried to minimize by offering web payment. Some stores and merchants are notorious for denying purchases from credit cards issued by African banks (even banks in .za, a more recognized economy). In most cases, such cards are "blocked", especially in U.S. markets. Other stores/merchants are less strict, the colour "green" is universal :-). For some web sites, the purchase is matched to an IP address and/or ASN, which is then referenced to the registered RIR, and if it belongs to a country that Bush doesn't like, no dice.
