For those who did not realize already, from a rather trustworthy source, the wall street journal:
(to prevent registring with them, via google) http://news.google.com/news?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&tab=wn&hl=en&nolr=1&q=microsoft+africa+source%3Awall+street+journal&btnG=Search+News Things to note: According to M$, Uganda does not qualify for the 3USD windows (Only windows!) program. Elsewhere in the article, the more normal price of USD45 is mentioned. Just imagine: the governments laptop program would have been able to provide laptops for at least 45USD less than it does now. And that is without office. In regards to tax-money: the namibian government pays 667USD over 3 years per computer for M$ licenses. there is far more, very well researched info in the article. just my free cents :-) rgds, Reinier Battenberg Director Mountbatten Ltd. +256 782 801 749 www.mountbatten.net Be a professional website builder: www.easysites.ug _______________________________________________ LUG mailing list [email protected] http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug %LUG is generously hosted by INFOCOM http://www.infocom.co.ug/ The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including attachments if any).
