Sorry Jan, but I would not recommend running lotus notes across a vpn that
runs on a link slower than 64/128kb. You will be waiting for every sync to
happen unless anyone else has better experience.

The VPN and I presume with encryption will already eat a substantial portion
of your available bandwidth.

I am trying to do preliminary investigations on how to provide internet
to our regional offices. Does anybody know of a cheap, reliable internet
connection? Some of he areas I am looking for coverage in is Mbale,
Jinja, Kigumba (Masindi).

The link does not have to be high speed (we only have a 128Kbit
synchronous connection at our national office). Reliability and cost
effective are the main factors.

I would do a VPN tunnel for the internal traffic (Lotus Notes) and let
the internet traffic (web, smtp, pop, etc) go directly (to not load our
main line). Would it be feasible to put "parent" squid proxies in these
regional offices to a "child" squid proxy at our national office as they
might get better connection out there?
