Dear Luggers, We had a small but committed turnout on Friday to hear Bernard's presentation, firstly (unannounced) on how to install OpenSUSE 11.0, and then on installing Postfix+Dovecot and Postfix+Dovecot+SpamAssassin+ClamAV. Despite having to deal with a lively crowd (yours truly+friends) he delivered a very insightful tutorial. Plenty of off-topic discussions were had, including Wire James, announcing the imminent COMESA report, which we keenly look forward too. Others suggested that the LUG should take a more proactive role in education both the students of today, as well as Government. I'd just like to say a big Thank you to Bernard, for being our first Ugandan presenter (in recent times). We are now looking for alternate venues, as SecondLife haved moved their Sales office into the building.
I just like to say a big thank you to Robert and his team, we possibly will be looking to host future events outside in his garden in a more bar-b-que fashion. Several people mentioned how there were using Open Source Software in the various corporate environments (which I think could be a future topic), as well as some of the problems facing IT Managers who want to introduce OSS into their environment. We also discussed if the current format of either a non-techie and techie topic was still ok? It was mentioned that this should probably be made clearly in the advertising and times/timings attached. As always thanks to those members who came, (especially those who brought along their offspring ;-) ) Looking forward to the next one in August.
