Some Info on the past LUG meetings could be formatted into a flyer /
Handout / Brochure just so as to promote the Monthly LUG meetings in
fora beyond the LUG, this way people know that besides the annual
software day, FOSS minded indiviuals can be found easily on other
days. Valentine read 'annual software day' shouldn't be the only time
Microsoft fellows get some -:)

Hi,
It seems everybody is pretty keen & checked in. Great. Before we
meet, we
could perhaps pingpong some ideas around:
- Last year we did presentations, but we didnt do a lot of handson
demoing.
Would this be interesting to try to achieve, so that people can
actually
click around some opensource solutions?
- Do we need a theme? Or perhaps a few? So that we can group
Presentations &
demo installations around those? Eg: FOSS in Business, FOSS for
Developers,
FOSS on the Desktop? Having a theme might attract people who would
not come
to something about Software and Free (though some might come for the
free
thing ;-)
Any more ideas, before we plunge ourselves into a Jam to do the same
thing as
here physically?

Dear Tracy,
I have opted for Makarere as I think we will need the space, and
EACOSS
is a little tight if this goes 'big'. I would love to talk to you
guys
about demos, stalls, banners etc as we did at the last day.
Thanks for the media contact. Which media organisation is he
affiliated
with?
Many Thanks
Simon

Hi Guys,
September 19th 2009 is the annual Software Freedom Day
http://softwarefreedomday.org/. I have already registered a
team and received some of the free Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Disks
to give out. I am thinking because I am a lazy so and so I'd
like to combine this months meeting with the day. Two birds
one stone all that. But I am in need of volunteers to help
organise some demo stalls etc. The basic idea I am having is
again to have a talk about issues surrounding free and open
source software.
Also anyone with links to media outlets please let me know
so
we can contact them and see if we can get some promotion on
the go.
Any other ideas most welcome.
