hahaha...I use to have such emails sent to me while I was an instructor
at MUK. It's funny how you feel like kicking the student when you get
such emails. (I'll usually ignore the email completely and when asked
by the student if I got their email, I'll tell them to resend in
English!). You wonder if the problem is the effects of new trends or is
it that students can't differentiate official and unofficial writing.

It's
sad because many people fall in the same trap, not even techies. People
are often unable to differentiate between just composing an email and
composing an application letter via email. We tend to forget all the
formalities that were mandatory
when writing letters on paper. We don't even end official letters
properly anymore!

Subject: [LUG] [OT] Should techies have to demonstrate good communication
skills?

MIT reignites the old debate by nixing the 500-word application essay.

I offer this extract from an email I received the other day from a student.
