If i had to make a choice between 2 people one with experience and one with papers, i would take the one with experience.
i take the assumption that the scope is well defined i.e. server administration only and nothing like server administration + user support + networking + hardware repair + programming + other required competencies someone with experience can immediately get things done without necessarily knowing why things work the way they do. certifications should be done at a later time though to have a better understanding of why things work the way they do. //MB On Sat, Nov 28, 2009 at 6:22 PM, Daniel Bwente <[email protected]> wrote: > Truth be told am not hiring, I extended a discussion we were having with a > couple mates to the LUG, the gist of the matter is who is the better or > complete ICT Persona, and in the event you have two candidates with varying > degrees of certs and experience who do you pick, thus my earlier allusion to > Career guidance, Certs and Experience should both be gained but ultimately > which should hold greater sway in the mix? > > > > > > On Sat, Nov 28, 2009 at 3:11 PM, Otandeka Simon Peter <[email protected] > > wrote: > >> >> Daniel does the person you want to employ have potential and ability? >> >> On Sat, Nov 28, 2009 at 1:23 PM, Daniel Bwente <[email protected]> wrote: >> >>> Hi Guys >>> >>> Who would you hire, a person with Certifications or Experience? >>> >>> >>> -- >>> Dan >>> >>> >>> "Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.." >>> >>> >>> _______________________________________________ >>> LUG mailing list >>> [email protected] >>> http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug >>> %LUG is generously hosted by INFOCOM http://www.infocom.co.ug/ >>> >>> The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including >>> attachments if any).
