Hey Simon,
I fixed the problems by reinstalling apache and enabling --enable-modules=so

However,i have another problem, whenever i try to run apache on the
slackware box, i get this error

/etc/rc.d/rc.httpd start
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

I wonder what the problem could be. Am trying to figure out what else
is using the port 80.
