Guys (and Gals :) ),

I have a quick asterisk question.

What is the relationship between total calls and total channels in
asterisk? Should the 2 values be equal?

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,

I see 4 FOSS alternatives for Cristal Reports, does anyone have
experience with them and some recommendations of what to use?

- DataVision 1.1
- JasperReports 2.0
- Pentaho Report Designer 1.2
- OpenRPT 3.0

I need to use it on top of an existing SQL Server DB. OS is no issue.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Victor

I see that in the community edition the graphical report designer is not
included - is this not a problem? Or makes it difficult to use (the end
user is a not very experienced IT person)?

Do you whether it easily connects to a MS SQL Server? I do not see an
immediate answer to this question.

Thanks,

V

Thank you.

I have a box that shows way more than double the number of channels to
the number of calls. Is it something I have to worry about, where do I
begin to troubleshoot?

Cheers, Joseph

You could also try BirT. http://www.eclipse.org/birt/

Have used JasperReports which is pretty good. Having an embedded library also
helps if you want to integrate it into an app.

Hi,

depending on the channel type there are different types of command sets
in the asterisk console. A good way to start is to connect to the
asterisk console:
- connect via ssh to the root shell
- type "asterisk -r" & enter
- use the "help" command to show a list of the available commands
- if you want to troubleshoot SIP channels you can use "sip show
channels" to reveal some more information on what is happening. To show
information about a particular channel you can use "sip show channel
<CHANNEL-NAME>"

If its an old installation it could be that some channels haven't been
closed properly. That depends on the end clients (softphone/ SIP phone /
SIP gateway) you are using. Sometimes there are compatibility issues
with the SIP protocol while signalling a call termination.

Regards,
Rocco
