Allan, That should be fine. But can I make one request can you please fix the links on your website under New Software. Pretty sure you mean OpenSuse no Susie! And the offical debian site is www.debian.org
Just a thought. On that note, what ideas do people have for the March meeting? We at EACOSS would like to host the March 19th meeting. For for any inquiries please get in touch with Tracy. Cheers Allan On 20 February 2010 15:15, Simon Vass < [email protected] > wrote: Dear Luggers Well again another successful LUG meeting. We kicked off with a very interesting presentation from Jubal Harpster who gave us a talk about how agcommons.org He discussed how they used FLOSS software, such as QGIS and OpenStreetmaps to perform various mapping projects, and discussed there upcoming WhereCamp 2010 to be held in Ghana. I then kicked off a run through of the customized Ubuntu release I have been putting together over the last couple of weeks. I suggested that it could evan become a release in it's own right if enough people would like to maintain the project. The release is available with David the Systems Administrator at the software incubator, they will happily make a copy of the release available to anyone who would like a copy free of charge, for up to 200 users. So get down there for your copy. I think they will also be making a copy available on-line. Sam of Digital Solutions talked and demonstrated to us how he uses various Open Source and primarily Linux based development tools. We finally finished with a discussion session as always, including the up coming project to build an Ubuntu Mirror at Makarere and possibly at UCC and UCU. Will keep you all posted on this project. Our thanks to all our guest speakers, Michael Niyitegeka for hosting us. On a personal note I am very buoyed by the growing interest in Linux and Open Source at Makarere and we should all actively support this and other academic institutions in there efforts. Well that's all from me for now, I am looking forward to our March 19th Meeting. If anyone has suggestions for another venue I would be most interested to here from you. Caio for now!
