Guys, i am flying with the lucid version of Ubuntu. I haven't been a
Debian person but...
now that i am running office 2007 seamlessly, two virtual machines of
Windows XP and Suse Linux enterprise server(SLES 11) on my Athlon II
(read core2duo for the intel guys), the windows version of Sam Spade
(interesting tool) also working on this beautiful (wobbling windows and
3d revolving gnome desktop plus plus... ) system. i am officially
'getting' converted from an obsession of Suse to Debian like Linux ops,
most especially Ubuntu.

Chris Kasangaki must be enjoying this... Zzzzz. Seriously, these guys
are serious.

Can you believe that i can even open my Microsoft HTML HELP executable
books (O'Reilly and other publishers) on this system without a hassle!!!
Guys...

I have one issue though! i have a number of applications i want to throw
and compile in the /opt directory but i cant log on as root via
#su root
then i enter the password and wala, like on other systems. Please
Advise.

Bwogi
