Just thought I'd post an update on an on-going issue some of your might remember. Kai had a Toshiba laptop fitted with an Ericsson F3507g modem which whilst sort of recognized did not work with Network Manager.
Today we found the solution http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1477911 quite simple, we put this into a text file on the desktop and now can double click and get his modem working. Alternatively we could have put it inside a script inside rc.local or similar. Another bug killed by 10.04.
