New guy to the LUG list, even though I've been around K'la for a bit. I saw in a search that some of you built a Cantenna, I've got a project that needs some better then the 2 dBi stock antennas. I was curious if anyone could recommend a few things:
A. Do you know where I can get a good cheap WRT54GL or DD-wrt compatible router (with removable antennas mounts)? Best I've found is 190,000 UGX at MSI on Kampala road. B. What about antennas? I've only found one place that sells them (The same MSI), but they don't have them in stock and haven't given me a price. He says he can get a 9 dBi or an 11dBi, but I'm guessing they are pricey. C. I'd like to build a Cantenna, having never done so. I've got some of the parts, which I procured from Master Electronics. Anyone have much experience in this, willing to give me some hands on tech advice? I'm trying to extend a wifi system for a compound, so it's mostly open ground dotted by buildings. Cheapest way I can figure is to have one or two wifi repeating devices.
