Same thing in the states. If you record an NBA game and show it publicly. You 
can get sued. Also if your tv is bigger than 60 inches and you invite people 
over to watch the game. It is considered public broadcast of copyright 
material. 
I think the 60 inch threshold was set coz bars and restaurants were the only 
ones with sets that big for many years.
