We'd like to inform you about the Google Developer Certification program,
which seeks to identify experts in a particular technology area. We
currently have certification programs for

   - JavaScript Maps API version
3<http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/basics.html>
   - KML <http://code.google.com/apis/kml/documentation/>
   - Geo 3D modelling <http://sketchup.google.com/>

We are also working on certifications for

   - App Engine (Python and Java)
   - Chrome Extensions
   - Gadgets

You can learn more about these certifications at
http://code.google.com/qualify.

To obtain these certifications, you normally have to obtain a certain amount
of points from references, sample applications, community participation, and
the certification exam. Recently, we've established a "Jr Certification"
where you need to obtain *80% or better* on the exam, but do not need to
meet the other requirements to be certified. By suspending the other
requirements, we are providing recognition for less experienced developers
who can demonstrate high potential.

The online exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions, and you have 120
minutes to take it. This is not as easy as it seems since there are no
training provided to prepare for the exam, and you only get one chance at
taking it (no retries).

Once you're certified, you are noted as such in the Developer Directory:
http://code.google.com/qualify/directory.html. The "Jr Certification" lasts
a year. During this time you can strive for obtaining full certification.

If you're interested in this program, please sign up here:

and, write in the "Comments/Questions" field of the registration form
"I am interested in the Jr Certification"
