Well if he needs some help I hope he knows who to ask. ;-)

Does mailman date when subscribed requests came in? I am guessing from what 
Kiggs said that these are all people who subscribed a long long time ago and 
for one reason or another didn't complete the sign up process.

Question are there spam bots which try and automatically subscribe you? Could 
some of the subscription requests be by that?

I have this eerie feeling that many of these folks did not willingly
subscribe themselves to the LUG list. Most probably during the upgrade
of mailman last week, Kiggs may have inadvertently subscribed them or
there was a glitch with copy/paste or something like that. So I
wouldn't really blame them for getting upset and not knowing to do
with what just hit them. Let's give Kiggs some time to sort it.
